Chris Parmelee is a Business Area Intellectual Property Counsel for Siemens Energy, based in Orlando, Florida. In this role, he supports the Transformation of Industries business, which includes compression, electrification, automation, digitalization, sustainability, and industrial steam turbines. He manages a substantial patent portfolio with budgetary responsibility for over 4,000 patents.
With over a decade of experience providing comprehensive IP counseling to Siemens Energy, Chris also specializes in trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, and IP contractual matters, particularly within the large gas turbine service sector in the United States.
Before joining Siemens Energy, Chris practiced as a U.S. patent attorney at a boutique patent firm in Ohio for 16 years, where he developed deep expertise in patent prosecution and IP strategy. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a software developer in a laboratory setting in Cleveland, Ohio.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctor law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

Completed studies in the University of Valencia´s Master Program in Law, Business and Justice. Postgraduate courses in Antitrust law from the University of Chile and in Global Administrative Law from the University of La Coruña. She is co- author of “Protección Internacional de la Propiedad Industrial e Intelectual”, chapter of the book Derecho del Comercio Internacional Peruano (Tirant lo blanch, Valencia, 2022) and of “Consumo digital y justicia digital administrativa en las relaciones de consumo”, chapter of the book Justicia Digital: Avances y Retrocesos (Institución Universitaria de Envigado, Colombia, 2021).
